A small team in Margaret River running your digital operations.
We do the work most small business owners hate doing, would rather not learn, and definitely should not be doing at 11pm on a Sunday.
Why we exist
Most small business owners we meet did not start a business so they could become a part-time IT department. They started a business because they are excellent at something specific and people want to pay them for it.
Then their website breaks at 11pm on a Sunday. Their email starts landing in customers' spam folders without warning. ChatGPT recommends a competitor instead of them. Their Google Maps listing is wrong and they did not know. The plugin they paid for stopped being maintained two years ago and is now a security risk.
Each of these things is a slow leak. None of them is what they started the business to think about. Nightshift Lane exists to take them off the list.
What we actually do
We run the digital operations layer behind small businesses on a fixed monthly fee. Hosting, DNS, SSL, security, monitoring, content updates, email deliverability, AI visibility, Google Business Profile, and the connections between them so they work as one system instead of seven things you log into separately.
You get the result. We do the work. You stop having to remember which password is for what, which plugin needs updating, and whether your SSL certificate is about to expire on a public holiday.
See Services for the three tiers and the add-ons, or FAQ for the questions everyone asks before they sign up.
How the team is set up
Deliberately small, deliberately senior. The person who designs your systems is the same person who runs them day to day. There is no account manager between you and the work, no handoff to a different team for support, no "let me check with the technical guys and come back to you."
That keeps three things true. You always know who is doing the work. Decisions happen fast because the person responding to you is the person who can make them. And the operational discipline stays consistent because nobody is inheriting somebody else's half-explained mess.
Nightshift Lane is built on the conviction that Australian small businesses deserve the same operational discipline that large enterprises pay six-figure consultants for, at a price the local cafe can actually afford. Everything from the response-time SLA to the change-management process is borrowed from how serious IT departments run; the only thing we re-engineered was the price.
What we believe
A short version of how we think about technology for small business, so you can decide whether we are the right fit before you spend any time talking to us.
- Plain English beats jargon, every time. If we cannot explain a technical decision in one sentence that a non-technical business owner understands, we have not understood the decision well enough ourselves.
- A fixed monthly fee, not a project quote. Most agencies make their margin on surprise scope changes and "out of scope" invoices. Our model is the opposite: a flat fee for the work we said we would do, every month, for as long as you want us to keep doing it.
- You own everything we build. Your domain, your hosting credentials, your content, your code, your client database. If you ever decide to leave us, every piece of the business goes with you with no friction and no fees. The relationship has to earn its renewal, every month.
- AI is changing how businesses are found, and most people are missing it. About 40% of people under 35 now ask ChatGPT, Gemini, or Perplexity for recommendations instead of Googling. The businesses that show up in those answers in 2026 will be the businesses that quietly set up the right signals in 2025. We help you be one of them.
- Show up when something breaks, fast. Every plan we sell has a 60-minute response promise on site-down outages, any time of day, any day of the week. If we miss, your next month is free. That is the line that matters when the website goes down 20 minutes before a busy Saturday.
Where we work
We work with small businesses anywhere in Australia. Most of the work is done remotely, so location is rarely a constraint. On-site visits are available in the South West of WA; everywhere else is fully remote and works just as well.
