- How is AEO different from SEO?
- SEO targets search-engine results pages: keywords, backlinks, page rank, click-throughs to the listing in position #1. AEO targets the AI's synthesised answer: machine-readable structured data, citable Q&A, and tracking which queries surface the business inside the AI's response. SEO answers 'do you rank?'. AEO works on how clearly your business is understood and whether it appears in the answer.
- Does AEO matter if I already do SEO?
- Yes. AI assistants increasingly intercept queries before they reach Google. A buyer asking ChatGPT 'best winery in Margaret River for a corporate group' may never see search-result page #1 because they act on the AI's summary instead.
